The Day You Wore A Tie

                                                Confetti and music gruffly

We sat in the dark

                                                Stabbed at us

Secretly pressing

                                                Shot at us out of

The outside of my left thigh

                                                The comical megaphone

To the outside of your right.

[You introduced strangers

                                                Who wink smugly

Smiling mother

                                                At their subordinates?]

That was the day I wore tough

                                                Business cards swirled around laughter

Sleeveless shirts

                                                Assaulted the hall

And slicked my hair back

                                                Far too distant

And wore flowery perfume

                                                For you to sniff

Was I a child?
