Known as D-Love by some, the Gentle Giant by others, and just Dan to most, I maintain the belief that the only way for me to experience college life to its fullest is to involve myself in a diverse array of activities. In addition to being “substance abuse chair” here at Zete, I also take my “manly” aggressions out on the rugby field and display my artistic side singing with the Derbies. My academic interests are as broad as my extra-curricular ones; studying cognitive-neuroscience, I enjoy any discipline that has anything to offer in the realm of human and/or animal behavior.

I originally hail from Bangor, Maine (a cultural Mecca, let me tell you!) and my Maine blood runs strong. Let it be known to all you wimps out there, Providence is not cold in the winter. Trust me, you don’t know cold if you think that this weather is cold. Don’t be surprised if you see me walking around without a coat when it’s below freezing.

The picture above is of me in front of the Archway to America in St. Louis, where I sang with the Derbies at Wash. U. last year. The Derbies have been an integral part of my college experience since my freshman year. I travel to multiple universities throughout the course of the year, and have sung in such places as the White House and Rockefeller Center under the x-mas tree.

Since midway through my sophomore year I’ve played rugby here. Rugby is an awesome sport, which is nearly impossible to describe unless you play. One of the coolest parts of rugby in addition to it being the most interesting and intricate team sport I’ve ever seen, is the culture that follows. While much of this culture revolves around drinking, there is a good portion of it that does not. Rugby is an international language, and knowing it automatically gives you a bond with anyone else in the world that plays.

Anyway, that’s who I am in a nutshell. If you see me around campus and I look like I’m in a rush, I probably am, but stop me and say ‘hi’ anyway, I always enjoy meeting new people.
